Summer Concrete

Story Behind The Song

The song came from the summer after I graduated high school. Full of hope with many bright possibilities, yet interrupted by the dark reality of my family falling apart. I decided to create a song that delves into the pain and heartbreak of life's disappointments and tragedies, but holds on to hope for a brighter day.

Song Description

Haunting, ambient-pop with a cinematic feel. - - - Florida-native turned Tennessee-transplant, Kamber, draws from a background in classical piano as well as a deep appreciation for alternative artists like Tori Amos and Imogen Heap to create her passionate, story-driven solo projects. Kamber released the yearning, atmospheric single, "Summer Concrete" prior to embarking on a tour with her band, Raviner. The song as an ode to the battle behind her, a touch of nostalgia haunts her as she seeks the turning of leaves to signal a fresh start. - Heather J. Murray

Lyrics

hats off to the blue tassels to the royal freedom ahead

so young so unsuspecting hung on every word you said

feel the wind in my hair / feel the heat from the sun's glare

I've got blisters on my feet from walking on the summer concrete

and I've forgot to close the door swinging

[wide open]

how you gonna feel your heart beating with that rusty lock and key

I would rather fall down a few times than sink here 'til I bleed

feel the wind in my hair / feel the heat from the sun's glare

I've got blisters on my feet from walking on the summer concreteand I've forgot to close the door swinging

[wide open]

Is this how it's gonna end for me? Melt into the ground 'til I bleed?

Is this how it's gonna end for me? Deep into the summer concrete

Is this how it's gonna end for me? Melt into the ground 'til I bleed? Is this how it's gonna end for me? Deep into the summer concrete

I've got blisters on my feet from walking on the summer concreteand I've forgot to close the door swinging

[wide open]

how am I gonna feel my heart beating with that rusty lock and key?

I would rather fall down a few times than sink here 'til I bleed
