Story Behind The Song
This song was born from forgetfullness...I had forgotten my guitar in the car, windows rolled up - El Paso, TX mind you...the heat "de-tuned" or better yet "re-tuned" the strings and I began to experiment with chord voicings and finger placements until this hauntingly beautiful song was carved out.
Song Description
This song is strongly founded on MOOD. Musically it represents the eye of the hurricane in the tormented relationship, with the crescendos at the beginning and end of the song, and the serene moments of clarity in middle. The lyrics tell a tale of sadness, yet long for hope. It is this conflict that creates the tension and ultimately, the beauty of it. The droning strings are reminiscent of acoustic Zeppelin, yet with a Nick Drake/Jeff Buckley serenity to exalt the emotion.

Lyrics
Tell me darlin where did we go wrong?
'cause all I can remember now is nothing but the smiles and the songs
Tell me darling, how much longer will this last?
'til we both just swallow our pride be satisfied and leave the past in the past
Oh I want to kiss you like you've never been kissed before
or ever will be again
I want to dance with you until the night is through
or til the music fades away...
Tell me darling if the moment is right
then maybe there's a chance that I might take you home tonight
But tell me darling if the feeling is wrong
There really ain't no use in me wasting your time by hanging around
Oh I want to kiss you like you've never been kissed before
or ever will be again
Oh I want to dance with you until the night is through
or til the music fades away
