Story Behind The Song
What if I were a god, and a news reporter, all at the same time? I could wreak havoc and then be the first one on the scene to file a report. Honestly, I don?t have any aspirations to be either one, but it was an interesting thought nonetheless.
I took that idea and ran with it ? I?m a god, with a sense of humor, and I live somewhere in the Midwest. Most likely in ?Tornado Alley?, ?cause there?s nothing better than watching a ?doublewide? sub divide in the middle of a windstorm.
Now I can put my finger on it, but there is something slightly ?romantic? about scarecrows (don?t even go there), and there is definitely some romanticism involved with satellites, and the way that they silently race across the sky. To me it just seems like they belong together.
We can all relate to burning bridges, and we?ve all tried to move a mountain a time or two, but not all of us can easily apologize for the stupid little things we do to each other, and that?s a shame.
By the way - I have read the paper, I have seen the news, and I can remember telling at least a handful of women throughout my lifetime, that I would never say goodbye. So, if I have neglected to say it in the past?sorry.
John

Lyrics
scarecrows and satellites (sorry)
it?s a one room planet do you like the view
well i?m proud to say i did it on my own
do you read the paper have you seen the news
do you ever get the feeling you?re alone
i?m sorry for you
are you sorry for me
don?t be sorry
i?ll turn off the daylight and whisper in your ear
there?s something i think maybe you should know
you see elvis didn?t really die and i won?t ever say goodbye
the world is perfect all the way around
i?m sorry for you
are you sorry for me
don?t be sorry
scarecrows and satellites
those days are these nights
bridges i forgot to burn
keep crossing over me
film at eleven (sorry)
i ain?t got that kind of time
do you read the paper
have you seen the news
the world is perfect
scarecrows and cadillacs
those days been lookin? back
mountains i forgot to move
keep fallin? down on me
turn out the satellites
?cause they?re shining down on me
and you
are you sorry for me
i?m so sorry for you
don?t be
sorry
