From Your Eyes

Story Behind The Song

I wanted to tap into something beyond the trivial "Been there, done that" so popular recently. Something where a sympathetic smile or eyes meeting for a second meant enough to render the words unneeded. Key line. "your heart settled out, a little bit heavier than the rest" Key concept. This is actually about reaching out beyond our own problems and finding a way to help others. Aspects are autobiographical and aspects based on some people I know. You?ll have to determine if the personal pronouns are in the right places.

Song Description

Song Length 4:06 Genre Folk - Contemporary, Folk - General

Lyrics

Somewhere along the line, your heart settled out
A little bit heavier, than the rest
Despite the sadness, from knowing too much
Seeing too much you still, said you were blessed
So here I stand, as a rank amateur
Feel like I?m carrying, such a heavy load
And there you are, making it another day
Carrying burdens that are largely untold
Break
The tiniest of smiles, says, "I know where you?re coming from
And at that time I wished, I wasn?t there"
Trust and hope in things unseen and
It takes some perspective to know what?s fair
And silent empathy, poured from your eyes
A type of wisdom, from a higher source
Your knowing smile, carried with it peace
Helped me reconnect, with the ruling force
Break
repeat
