Story Behind The Song
This is from song that I began writing over 20 years ago and could not find the lyrics to match the mood.
Finally, one day, after watching the news, I thought that there are way too many people suffering in the world, so I wanted to write a song that gave a feeling of sincere hope, something that didn't feel manipulated or manufactured.
I dusted off the music written in 1990 and simplified the verse so that it could repeat over the chord changes. This hopefully relates a sense of stability and strength over difficult times.
Song Description
The desire was to write a sincere song of hope to give people a sense of resolve in difficult times.
It's not a style that I usually write, because it's not easy to write a song in a major key and try to relate a mood of sorrow. I hoped to have a hopeful and reflective ending to the song, which hopefully lingers a bit after listening.

Lyrics
I. When all is lost, we fade away
When all is gone, we melt away
All we have left is our own within
When all is gone, our soul remains..(2x)
II. When all the hate burns our hearts away
And all our fears crush our will away
All we have left is our own within
When all is gone, our love remains (Repeat II)
All we have left are the stars inside..
