Song Description

This song is about realising how we separate ourselves from God when we sin or even if we don't sin and we feel guilty for not being good enough (which is also sinning against ourselves and God's creation). Jesus took our shame and our guilt and our sorr

Story Behind the Song

My parents were not that good at showing love when I was growing up and I still have a lot of trouble feeling loved. I listen to this really good Christian call in radio talk show called "New Life LIve", it's web site is newlife.com. They say that those feelings sometimes linger all of your life (or lack of feeling love) and it's not enough to try to pray to feel loved. You need to be around other people who can affirm you constantly like a good support group or sunday school class. I'm trying out a new sunday school class this sunday and hopefully I will find the love and support I need. I hope and pray that you, also, will find the love and support you need. I'm typing this two days before Christmas, 2005. It's been a tough year for me but I am hopeful that next year will be my year of jubilee. Merry Christmas everyone.

Lyrics

THE DANCE
Words and Music by JOANNA

You are my friend, a friend who never leaves.
A friend who never hurts or deceives.
Close to my side, you’re always there to lead.
So helpful with my needs, my counselor and guide, you’re my friend.

And I will walk with you and talk with you.
And I will take your hand and dance with you.
And as you lead the dance, I know there is no chance, that I will ever be without your love.

More of your love our spirits can contain, if we believe you love us just the same, the same before and after all our sin.
Can we but now begin to yield and enter in to your love.

And I will walk with you, and talk with you.
And I will take your hand and dance with you.
And as you lead the dance, I know there is no chance, that I will ever be without your love.

You are my friend, a friend who never leaves.
A friend who never hurts or deceives.
Close to my side, you’re always there to lead.
So helpful with my needs, my counselor and guide, you’re my friend.

And I will walk with you, and talk with you.
And I will take your hand and dance with you.
And as you lead the dance, I know there is no chance, that I will ever be without your love.
