Yellowed Pages

Story Behind The Song

I got the idea for the song one evening. Judge Napolitano was sitting in for Glen Beck. His monologue was about the Constitution. He said first they fought a revolution, then wrote a Constitition and created a remarkable document of only 18 pages. He was comparing 18 pages to the length of the Obama Healthcare bill of nearly 3000 pages. When I heard the words revolution and constitution and then 18 pages, I said... there's a song. Now, a couple of years later, I decided to embellish the recording and change the title from 18 Pages to (Worn and) Yellowed Pages. It just seems to fit better.

Song Description

The song is both fun and educational about the United States. It speaks to its founding and responds to some of its critics. The last verse brings it to American voters and what they should and can do to preserve their freedom.

Lyrics

Yellowed Pages

In the eighteenth century
That is when she came to be
Our Founder's cast their fate upon her
Then pledged their sacred honor
To create a country based on Liberty

Refrain:

First they fought a revolution
Then wrote a Constitution
With the light of freedom burning bright within
There on worn and yellowed pages lies the wisdom of the ages
Treat it gently and defend it to the end

Some will point to slavery
Askin' how that's liberty
I'd say we fought a war to end it
And we're workin' hard to mend it
On the road to being what we're meant to be

Refrain:

Take a look at history
Freedom has no guarantee
Like they say if you don't use it
You're surely bound to lose it
Someone else will tell you how it's gonna be

Refrain

Now it's up to you and me
Will we give in ...or struggle free
Tell em' take their new world order
Leave it at the border
We don't want their statist mediocrity

Refrain and out
