Story Behind The Song
This was recorded with Tony Germinario and Rich Simoniello from Jeff's old band JEL. The three of them did a demo project together for some industry big whigs that fizzled. Jeff took one of his favorites from the project (called "Trynity") and re-mixed it himself.
Song Description
This song is a little rougher than the other tracks on Goodbye July and was never really finished, but it captures an unmistakably raw, honest performance and mood that is indicative of Jeff's intensity.

Lyrics
Shortchange
you shortchange yourself
if only you'd be more patient?
you shortchange yourself
you think the guilt goes away- it doesn't
you can pack it in right now
this town is haunted anyhow
take care sis God bless
let someone else deal with this mess
don't shortchange yourself
it sucks being afraid but who isn't?
don't shortchange yourself
banging on the bars of your self-made prison
you can whine till your tears run out
or search for what they cheer about
fight that urge to drop
you've got to rally you just can't stop
when things are moving way to slow
just keep pushin' and before you know up you'll go
'cause you said so
don't shortchange yourself
you don't want to be the dog who wasted it
you'd rather be that god who tasted it
you can pack it in right now
this town is hopeless anyhow
fight that urge to drop
you've got to rally you just can't stop
when things are moving way too slow
just keep pushin' and before you know
up you'll go
'cause you said so
don't shortchange yourself
