Everybody's freaking, 'cause everybody's speaking
And most of it's behind my back
It doesn't really matter if all the wild chatter
Is a rumor or a story or a fact
All of it's behind my back, so I can't react

Hey little sister, yeah, I thought I heard you whisper
And you know it's such a waste of time
Whatever, he said or she said, that we said
I'm sure it never crossed my mind
I know it never crossed my mind, such a waste of time

---Chorus---
Mama tried to tell me that the highway to hell would be
Littered with gossip and gold
And Daddy tried to show me, but he really didn't know me
And the (my) story was left untold
---------------------------
Passively aggressive and aggressively deceptive
Well, the story has a life of its own
Usually out of spite and well into the night
They can talk until the cows come home
The story has a life of its own, till it's left alone

You know it's headed south, when you've heard it word of mouth
And the gossip is yesterday's news
But, they're talking out of turn and no one's too concerned
That the story is heartless and cruel
The gossip is yesterday's news and tomorrow's blues

--Repeat Chorus--
-Bridge-
When the end is near and all my thoughts are crystal clear
I know what won't be on my mind, anything thoughtless or unkind

--Repeat Chorus--
----Solo Verse Break & Gossip----

Very balanced mix and good production values.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song! I don't think I've ever heard a song about gossip. Great subject matter and fantastic lyrics and melody. The writing is clever and original and the whole production just works beautifully in an effective way to get the message across. 5 stars for the fiddler too! The ending was very creatively done. Love the line about the road to hell being paved with gossip and gold. Terrific rhyming back/react.

A very clean and wholesome tune with clever lyrics and a message. I feel like a bar of Irish Spring soap after listening to this tune. And I mean that in the best of way. There is a place in this crazy neon world we live for songs like this. It's not what I usually listen too, but I do get it.
I feel like the vocals were sung by a husband and wife. Two people that know each other very well.
Keep em coming
Thx

Very clever lyrics, great rhyming patterns, nice subtle female harmony. Nice fiddle work and guitar rifts. The chorus had a very catchy lead line. Easy to sing along with and very danceable. The bridge was nice change musically. The gossip at the end was was unique, entertaining and tied the song together well.

This song is great. The vocals were really good and the harmonies also were great. I liked the talking part ant the end. The instruments were great, I really like the fiddle back fills. The mix was really good. The tempo was nice.

Brilliant fiddle work, and the instrumentation is very well played and well-balanced. Thought at first it could pass for country, but the lyrics are too sophisticated for what I consider mainstream country these days. Nice, modern folk sound - and I love the ending talk-line - great fun!

Sometimes I hear a song that I just like and any picking apart is just nit-pickin. This is just a well crafted tune from songwriting to arrangement.

I really liked this great story line felt a bit more country to me but didn't stop me from liking it. Your vocals were very clear and the over dubbing voices at the end was just brilliant.

Love this song - great sentiment Makes me want to sing along
