Sitting in the evening light
Thinking about the evenings of my life
Watching as the sun explodes
Painting out the daytime with the night

---Refrain---
And what goes down, down, comes around
Like the smile replacing your frown
The shade hides shadows left behind
Of other people, other places, other times
----------------

Wondering how it all began
Hoping that this time will never end
Knowing that the day will come
But welcoming the rising of the sun

-Refrain-
And the minutes seem to chase the hours away
And the nighttime turns back into day
Where the who and how become when
And the here and now become then
------------

-Bridge-
If you think it's a blink of an eye
It's a grin and a sigh and you're gone
-----
-Refrain-
And what goes down, down, comes around
Like the seed left dormant on the ground
The shade hides shadows left behind
Of other people, other places, other time
And the shade hides shadows left behind
Of other people, other places, other time

always what comes from you is dependable GOOD

style and feeling of a Cat Stevens song, sweet and easy listen, good transfer of emotion, could easily find a place in the right movie or TV scene... lead vocal is interesting in a subtle way, dropped in low and without a lot of flair - adds to the calming mood of the song

Here's a philosophical song that's not too deep for the average listener to understand. The message is that time keeps moving on. I like the imagery of the seed left dormant on the ground. My favorite lyric is the bridge: If you think it's a blink of an eye
It's a grin and a sigh and you're gone. The unity of the facial expressions describing the brevity of life is cleverly done.
"The shade hides shadows left behind" Another unique lyric with excellent alliteration.

Great lyrics and harmonies. Recording and arrangement were very nice to. Nice song. I think you won't have any problem getting placements for this song. Great job.

like the tone of this song, the nice steady beat and the message as well. reminds of a country singer that i cannot,, for the life of me, remember his name. all the instruments are there.

A fine country song in a traditional style with a contemporary feel. Strong, accurate vocals all round, good musicianship and high quality recording.

Good song; not my kind of preferred genre

I liked the fiddle in this record good delivery
