Story Behind The Song
I was so moved by a recent sermon at Willow Creek Community Church centered on Psalm 139:23-24, that I had to write a song about it. These verses are some of the most famous in all of the Psalms. The words "Search me oh God and know my heart" are so powerful and disarming. The commitment to be completely transparent before our God is so moving. We all fail and fall down. It's not just about getting back up. It's about getting back up in "His" strength. It's about asking God to remove anything standing in the way of a true relationship with Him. It's the same way I feel about my own kids when there is something standing in the way of true connection. My heart isn't at peace until I remove any barriers that exist. This song is all about disarming ourselves before God and allowing Him to lead us in His way, "Everlasting."
