Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song while sitting in a cinema watching the movie "The People Vs. Larry Flint". The character that Courtney Love portrayed reminded me of a girl I knew in high school. She slept around with all of my friends who were considered the "cool" guys. She refused my advances though. I felt like a loser but now realized that her ego and self worth had nothing to gain by having sex with a loser like me!

When we were growing up
they said you was just a whore
It was easy to see that you were popular,.
It was easy to see what part grabbed the attention
But my eyes they never went there,
maybe just glanced on by

But my eyes saw into your eyes
and thru the heavy make-up
And beyond the tell all tales
of your dreams beyond the stars

And my eyes saw into your eyes
and thru the make up tear stained hurt
And I was the loser with a heart full of her

Couldn?t give you validation, , so we never did it
You liked me but I wasn?t cool enough

You would dye your hair and it seemed the colors changed
Sometimes twice a week, like the lovers in a day
White bleached, hand full of strands,
in the middle of the black was red
And I, I wanted your hands wrapped up in my hands

Couldn?t give you validation, ,
so we never did it
You liked me but I wasn?t cool enough
and I?m still not cool

I was always lookin for a way into your heart,
waitin for our own inside joke to develop
A bond,
a dream
to be stripped away
by the next time meeting

When we were growing up they said you was just a whore
It was easy to see that you were popular,.
It was easy to see what part grabbed the attention
But my eyes they never went there, maybe just glanced on by
