Story Behind The Song
?Heaven?s Gate? was written for David Glenn Bass. David was a friend of mine, and many others, who left this world as a young man in 1994 in a tragic automobile accident. Although for myself and all David?s friends and family the pain has eased (by the grace of God) but he isn?t missed any less. He had a smile and a personality that can never be forgotten. We are all much more blessed for having known him. I?d like to thank John Michael Whitby for lending his awesome piano talents to this song. Thanks, bro.

Lyrics
Heaven?s Gate
Look into my window.
What do you see but a broken man.
With every teardrop, you see the man I am without you.
And with all this pain I feel.
I just don?t know how I?ll ever get through.
I can?t imagine, what my world will be like without you.
Now I wonder where you are.
If I gaze out tonight and see a shooting star.
Would you be seeing that same star far away?
While you wait at Heaven?s gate.
How could all these years go by,
And I never told you how I feel inside.
Now every minute of every day, I feel so paralyzed.
Now I?ve said goodbye the best I can, I tried to be strong,
I cried for so long, and I still can?t go on.
Now I ask The Lord above.
To take old Dave aside, and tell him of my love.
Tell him my lonely heart can?t wait ?til the day,
When we meet at Heaven?s gate.
(Bridge):
All of the words we forgot to say and all of the songs we forgot to play.
Who could?ve known those words and songs,
Would mean so much today?
Tell him my lonely heart will miss him every day,
?Til we meet at Heaven?s gate.
Tell him to wait at Heaven?s gate.
We?ll meet again at Heaven?s gate.
How could all these years go by?
And I never told you how I feel inside.
