Story Behind The Song

Had just started dating my wife in September of 2001. I travel to NYC often for work and went with a friend down to Ground Zero in October, almost 1 month after the attacks. While standing as close as I could get (5 blocks) the first line of this song popped into my head. I felt that it had to be the testimony of those that had lost a loved one on that awful day, and the check I would give myself regarding my wife. I rushed back to my hotel, picked up the guitar and finished it then and there. Just one of those God-given inspirational moments.
