Song Description

A very funky and catchy alternative rock song in a style similar to Marron 5. The name says it all, a theme song for lazy people everywhere.

Story Behind the Song

Have you seen those motivational posters that they have hanging on the walls in offices? You know, the ones that have pretty pictures and titles like Teamwork and Achievement? Well, there?s a wonderful company called despair. com that makes demotivational posters. One in particular caught my eye: "PROCRASTINATION Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now." A little while later, on the wall of my uncle?s office, I saw a picture of Homer Simpson with the following quote: ?Trying is the first step to failure.? It was as if I had received my calling. Something in my inner being was calling out waiting to resurge. After all, I always felt deep down that I was a lazy bum. It is something that I always tried to overcome and suppress, but no longer! The Underachiever was born. - Joshua Dutton

Lyrics

The Underachiever
By Joshua Dutton

VERSE 1
You walk in like you?re something else
You got your job and your fancy car
You work all day; you work for someone else
Working like that won?t get you too far
Look at me I?ll give you some advice
You try to hard and it?s time to bail
I can show you an easier life
The more you try the more you fail

CHORUS
I am the underachiever
I just let life pass me by don?t have to work don?t have to try
I am a level first grade reader
My story?s never been told, just sit on my butt ?til I grow old
The easiest path so I?m a believer
I am; I am the underachiever

VERSE 2
Hard work often pays off over time
But laziness always pays off now
I don?t work; I don?t make a dime
Just sit around like a lazy fat cow

CHORUS

BRIDGE
The world asks too much
My job asks too much
My Mom asks too much
So if anyone asks I?m out to lunch
