There were waves of destruction
In the 2004 tsunami
Entire communities swept away
For awhile, it overwhelmed me
But soon waves of compassion
Came from people far and near
Scouts, school groups, and others
Did fundraisers and sent volunteers

Choosing to give and share

Sometimes I hate to hear news
I see children crying from war
Mudslides and earthquakes, fires and floods

Trying to ease the sorrow
They help plant the seeds
To grow a better tomorrow
