Story Behind The Song
I used to live in a rural area with my family, and after we moved away and to a more urban setting, I began to miss it dearly. I missed the "whitetail" deer that always ran up and down the driveway.

Lyrics
The coffee was great,
but there's one more thing that I gotta say
I had me a great time yesterday
But this afternoon
Was more like something from a horror story
Oh I don't want to sound like I'm whining
But I have plans that I've been designing
Can I borrow your eraser
So I can rub you out from the blueprints?
I've had enough teasing and telling silly lies
Take back the evening screams and early morning sighs
Forever could have been ours, but forever's come and gone
Sit back, relax, forever might be back before too long.
Arm in arm walk the lovers in love in the overcoats
They can see failure in my eyes, and they hear anger
Hanging around in my soar throat
Oh, no, I don't want to live the life of a pessimist,
but I have plans and you don't know the rest of it
I think I'll buy me a pen,
and start drawing up those complicated blueprints again.
A house in the woods with a pool would be nice.
A windowsill for birds, instead of walls full of mice.
Where love can grow and blossom with each springtime rain.
And a driveway that we call "Whitetail Lane".
(Inst)
I haven't got a penny in my pocket for the rain.
So I started singing, and everyone thinks I'm insane.
And if I had some money, I'd leave 4th and Main.
But I'm broke, forget I ever spoke of Whitetail Lane.
