Different Each Time

Story Behind The Song

This song was inspired by my two roommates getting booted out of their beautiful 100 year old San Francisco apartment where they'd lived many years so that some landlord could knock it down in order to make a fast buck.

Lyrics

I think it's sad you must be leaving
this place you've lived for many years
you'll miss the view you'll miss the garden
but maybe in the coming years

Occaisionally you'll return to it
not with your hands but with your heart
and you will see what you used to be
then you'll come back to where you are
different each time

Go up the stairs in to the hallway
the cat is rolling on the floor
she doesn't know you must be leaving
but she'll remember this and more

The sound of you making love
not with your hands but with your heart
an entire sun comes rushing in
into your window then out the door
it must be time
