Story Behind the Song

This song took almost four years to write. I recorded quite a few different versions. It means a lot to me, but I think you'd be surprised at what it means, given the lyrics. Some of it's about interplanetary colonization, some's about my sister passing away...yep. Neal Young was in the studio next to us and he definitely rubbed off on the song, since he was kind enough to have in depth conversations with me about songwriting and performing. Hope you enjoy it.

Well she sings
for everything
has stayed the same
for all these years

Although it seems
the sun will sink
into the ground
mirrors our fears

Because everything
is spreading outward
a circle of tears
by the hour

For all these years
I stayed on top
climbed the mountain
and came down free

And do you see
the way we fly
away from here
to a better time

ahead of now
it spreads around
a circle of tears
coming down

Now his hands
they tremble on cue
when we all rise up
the already knew

So how it goes
we've got to fly
away from here
to a better time

Ahead of now
we spread around
like a circle of tears
coming down
