Story Behind The Song
The story is quite truthful. It's based on my own experience losing my dad a few years ago. For the few years after his death, I had a lot of trouble sleeping at night without thinking of him. I felt a complete loss of control over my own thoughts. So, as time goes on, he's the song that I hear in my head and as clouds roll by, he remains... ever present.
Song Description
The drum beat in the distance is the distant heartbeat of the loved one who has passed away, but whose presence still lingers in the sounds this individual hears during a sleepless night. The bird flying off to an unknown home is the idea of the person who has passed, being the bird, and heading to an unknown home somewhere. The word lullaby is used in this song to represent the sounds this person hears every time they try to fall asleep. They can't control their thoughts and so the "lullaby", or the sounds running through their mind while lying in bed at night, are often the lingering cries/voice of the loved one they lost.

Lyrics
You remain
Celia Rose
A drum beats in the distance, the heartbeat of the night
A bird cries out as the evening loses light
Like a kite left carelessly to float across the sky
Heading home to a nest unknown he sings a lullaby
Time goes on, you are my song
As clouds roll by, you remain my sky.
As the last drop of daylight tiptoes off to bed,
Memories flood my every thought by pounding in my head
The wildfire burns and I have no control
I hear your cry like a lullaby piercing through my soul
Time goes on, you are my song
As clouds roll by, you remain my sky.
My fallen angel, my trip to the moon
My silver lining, my sunflower in bloom
You?re my endless rainbow that disappeared too soon.
You make me swell with pride. You?re who I am inside.
