Story Behind The Song
This song was written a year or two ago following one of those wonderful corporate bashes where they pay you loads of money to show up and play music and nobody pays any attention to the band...
Due to the apparent lack of interest (although nobody left, which said something for us), my band's lead singer (the redhead in the song) and I (the blonde) decided it was time for some schmoozing. We kind of "hovered" across the room to Joe ("Redhead's Joe"), the guy that hired us, and, well, schmoozed. Wasn't long before Didi and I were attentively surrounded. It never ceases to amaze me how naturally schmoozing comes with the job of performing, The imagery of the Queen of Hearts, the knights, the power -- the song is a fun flirting romp with a jazzy bluesy feel...
Song Description
A jazz-blues song about two female musicians indulging in a raunchy, flirtatious romp during band breaks. One is the band's singer, the other is the piano player. These two "Queens of Schmooze" enjoy their power over their male admirers (with power increasing proportionally to the degree of intoxication), but warns the men of the danger of becoming a queen's "court jester" if he acts the fool.

Lyrics
Watch them glide... hover to the other side
Redhead's Joe, got him in her sights you know
She will caress him, provoke him, chat him up and stroke him
In his dreams
Goddess of song, and he could do no wrong the way she beams
The way she looks at him and plays the game
It's always the same
(Sigh) They're the Queens of Schmooze
Heralded by knights of lust and booze
Don't cower at power, they'll make you an offer you can't refuse
Hold on, they're gone, they're the Queens of Schmooze movin' on...
Watch her stride... edgy with a wanton look
Ooze desire, read him like an open book
The blonde will play him, display him, she will disarray him
With haunting tunes
Out of his mind, and soon he will be orbiting the moon
The way she looks at him and plays the game
It's always the same
(Sign) They're the Queens of Schmooze
Heralded by knights of lust and booze
Don't cower at power, they'll make you an offer you can't refuse
Hold on, they're gone, they're the Queens of Schmooze movin' on...
Mind what you do, boy
You could be a Queen's new toy
But don't you offend her
You could be her next court jester...
Queens of Schmooze
Heralded by knights of lust and booze
Don't cower at power, they'll make you an offer you can't refuse
Hold on, they're gone, they're the Queens of Schmooze movin' on...
