Story Behind The Song
I loved Whale Rider (the movie). I have also spent many weeks out on the waters of the Pacific Northwest watching whales, orcas, dolphins and porpoises and feeling inextricably drawn to them. I grew up in Australia and one of the most fascinating whale stories since Moby Dick -- that of the "Killers of Eden," a group of orcas that used to assist the local fishermen in their bids to harvest the very large whales that swam by the waters of Twofold Bay, south of Sydney -- has always stayed in my thoughts. I am fascinated by the whales' ability to pass on stories within their own family hierarchies and can't begin to imagine the language with which they communicate. Leviathan suggests hugeness, enormity, biblcal monsters and other giants of folklore. I imagine myself being in the body and mind of a blue whale -- a true Leviathan.

Lyrics
If I could be in your skin
If I could go where you swim
Unlock your mystery, gentle giant of the sea
You fascinate me ? your spirit draws me
You fill my waking dreams
By night subconscious streams
Deep frequencies, your haunting calls
Beneath the sea ? your song enthralls? me
Leviathan, Leviathan
Spirits intertwined?
You speak a language I will never know
But in my dreams I hear you
Your habitat will surely crush my bones
But still it seems I?m near you
Leviathan, Leviathan
Spirits intertwined?
Tell me your ancient tales
Of water, sun and whales
Unleash your history, gentle giant of the sea
You are a part of me and my heart is where you?ll be
Leviathan, Leviathan
Take me? take me? take me?
