Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song on the drive back from San Antonio after guesting on one of Smokey Wilson?s shows. Me, Pam and the kids had recently spent a day at my compadre Rick Ryan?s ranch. He and his lovely wife Kim have hand raised a mustang pony named Don Bravo

Lyrics
Spur That Pony To The Barn
Billy Eli copyright 2006
Well I don?t know how far it was
From that last place to this one
And I don?t know how long it took
To get from there to here
All I know?s I made it and
That?s the only thing that matters
And I?m staying till the lights go on
Or they run out of beer
Chorus
The point is that there ain?t one
So don?t waste your time looking
Or wishing you somewhere
Besides the place you are
Just hope you find a barmaid
That?ll keep you safe from harm
Then saddle up, duck your head
And spur that pony to the barn
Well I couldn?t get everything done
I wanted in two more lifetimes
So I?ve traded all that in to wear
This healthy neon glow
Maybe I should call
A doctor, psychic, or a nurse
And I could say a prayer
But that would only make things worse
Chorus
Just hope you find a barmaid
That?ll keep you safe from harm
Then saddle up, duck your head
And spur that pony to the barn
The point is that there ain?t one
So don?t waste your time looking
Or wishing you somewhere
Besides the place you are
And I just hope I can find a barmaid
That?ll keep me safe from harm
Then saddle up, duck my head
And spur that pony to the barn
