Song Description

The song is told from the perspective of a boy in his late teens looking back on the time when he was ten and his mother died from cancer

Story Behind the Song

A friend shared a journal with me which he had wrote when he was 17 as part of his art project. For that project he was doing a painting of his mum who had died from cancer when he was ten. In the journal he wrote about his thoughts of his mum, the world and life. It inspired me to write the song 'Hollow'

Find life in a drop and you still have the ocean

I painted a picture of her memory
I want it so she lives on in me
With the focus not on the tragedy
This happenned to me when I was just ten
It's cruel when I just look back to then
Not knowing - now knowing I'll never have her again

I'm so confused
People abuse the fact that I feel so alone
I can't express all this stuff I suppress

Time is ticking away
And it makes me feel hollow
You want me to stay
But your love's not hers and it turns me upside down
My heart is feeling so hollow
I'm haunted today
Kind of disappear 'cause she's not near
Why me?

No no
No no

They say that the pain you feel goes away (pain goes away)
But the loss in you is there everyday (there everyday)
I cling to everything that she used to say
I crave for the way that she used to touch
The feeling fades and it seems too much
The words we have just aren't enough

I can go weeks where I don't speak
I can't handle people around
All I can see are my fantasies (I was only ten)
