Story Behind The Song
The band (Alterstate) picked this song idea based on its catchy guitar riff of Jason's (Alterstate guitarist). It needed a chorus and bridge, which he worked on with Cliff (Alterstate keyboard player). It also needed lyrics, and Cliff had already come up with the title 'Quarter After Hometime'. The story came from the title.
Song Description
An epic sounding rock song with a catchy guitar riff as the theme. The lyrics are from the point of view of a man who is looking back on his life and realizing the patterns he has followed, that he could never stay in one place for very long, could never commit, and that it's too late to change or to go back - it's 'A Quarter After Hometime'.

Lyrics
IT'S A QUARTER AFTER HOMETIME, AND STILL I'M AWAKE
ANOTHER TASTE OF BETTER DAYS,
AT THE BOTTOM OF AN EMPTY LIFE
I COULD NEVER STAY IN ONE MIND, MY STORIES NEVER END
BEHIND THE LINE OF PROMISES,
IS A LIFETIME OF MISTAKES
AND EVERYWHERE YOU'LL FIND I'M GONE?YEAH GONE
PAINT ME WALKING A LONG, LONELY ROAD
SAFELY FALLING AWAY INTO THE COLD
WELL THE MIRROR THAT I FACE NOW, HAS FROZEN AROUND MY HEART
THE TEARS THAT STAIN MY MEMORY,
ARE TEARING ME APART
IT'S LIKE A PHOTOGRAPH THAT NEVER LIES, TURNED BLACK AND WHITE
AND HALF A SMILING MEMORY, IS MOWHERE LEFT TO FIND
BUT EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK, I'M GONE? YEAH GONE
PAINT ME WALKING A LONG, LONELY ROAD
SAFELY FALLING AWAY INTO THE COLD
IT'S A QUARTER AFTER HOMETIME, AND STILL I'M AWAKE
AND ALL I HAVE IS PROMISES,
THAT TOMORROW'S GONNA BREAK
IT'S A QUARTER AFTER HOMETIME,
IT'S A QUARTER AFTER HOMETIME
