Story Behind The Song

Pat (Alterstate's drummer) had written the music for this song, and had a rough idea of what vibe he wanted for the melody and lyrics. He was inspired by John Mayer's song, 'Your Body is a Wonderland', and he asked me (Cliff) if I could finish the song for him.

Song Description

Acoustic guitar-based, medium tempo song, with a strong melody throughout and repetitive lyrical hook in the choruses. The lyrics are light, and tell the story of a character who has one of those 'blanking out' moments. He normally 'remembers everything', but his girlfriend hasn't come home yet, and he is starting to worry that she's left him. Then, as she walks in the door, he finds a message from her saying she'd be home late.
