"Outlaw Way"

Story Behind The Song

Bll and I were jamming one day and he played me a run he had bouncing around in his noggin and asked me if I could write some words to it. I could hear a horse running in the music and I sat down and created this story about a young man who shot another young man and is now faced with a life on the run

Lyrics

The wind whispers in your ear
You're a wanted man
The only place that's safe for you
Is across the Rio grande
So mount up and ride now cowboy
ride hard and fast
You're no longer just a kid
you're a man with a past

CHORUS:
Ride for the border
Cross the Rio Grande
There's a price on your head now
And blood on your hand
You left a young man dead or dying
Now you've got to pay
Ride like the wind now cowboy
That's the outlaw way

Son of a christian mother
Taught to fear the Lord
She told you those who to choose to use them
Die by the sword
No time for contemplation
And no room for remorse
The only friends you have left now
Is a six-gun and a horse

REPEAT CHORUS

Two ways now lay before you
So you've got to choose
Life on an outlaw trail or your neck in a noose
You already regret the day
that you ever wore a gun
No sense in looking back though
What's done is done

REPEAT CHORUS
