The Portsmouth, Virginia hip hop MCs/songwriters raquel ROCKWELL and Black VON got their start in 1997 being affiliated with a local super group called KONTRA, one similar in comparison to WuTang. When both ROCKWELL and VON agreed that the industry was missing something unique, they decided in 2004 to form Sevin:Thurdy (7:30), the first male/female rap duo in history.
Being ever observant of the fact that Virginia lacks major musical resources, ROCKWELL and VON took it a step further and thus created Makin Movez Records, LLC an independent label which they signed themselves under in 2004.
