Robert Prester started piano lessons at the age of 4 with his mother, a New York chamber music player, and concert pianist. He continued his classical training at the Pre-college Division of the Manhattan School of Music, studying piano performance, conducting and composition. He was later awarded a scholarship there to earn his Masters degree in Jazz/Commercial Music in 1985. In 1988 Robert’s first recording, Trillium, released on Island Records, was nominated for the Grammy Awards quarter-finals. The Rob Prester Group performs his original music in New York, Hawaii, West Palm Beach, and has appeared in Los Angeles, Boston, and jazz festivals throughout the country. The most recent recording, “She Devil”, produced in 2002, presents Robert’s newest compositions, featuring his jazz and latin-jazz piano work.
