Born in New York City, ROB BERRETTA grew up in Spain and Germany before returning to the U.S. to attend Wesleyan University. He moved back to New York in the late 80s and was a frequent performer on Manhattan’s singer-songwriter circuit.
Living as an ex-patriot gave Rob an opportunity to regard different cultures, including his own, from the outside, and many of his 200+ songs reflect the critical distance of an observer. A classically trained musician, Rob stopped writing and performing for several years in the mid-90s, and began a career as a road manager and agent for touring orchestras and dance companies.
Now having returned to his own music, Rob has released “SONGS FROM THE BIG MARTIN,” a 10-song collection produced with Head Cleaner’s MARK LINEBERRY for the Positron label. On this mostly acoustic album, Rob sings of love found, lost and thrown away, of the pulse of the city, and the healing power of the blues.
