Highly energized and soulful, Rhythm Jonez is the funk and R&B arm of the popular San Diego Latin Jazz/Salsa band Black Mambo. Fueled by divers influences in Reggae, funk, R&B, Rock and Gospel, front man and percussionist Raul Stamp steered the group Black Mambo into uncharted waters and Rhythm Jonez was born. Lisa Peyton provides the lead vocals and wows audiences with her tremendous range and power. Lead guitarist Rene Escamilla provides awesome solos and holds the rhythm to perfection. Supported by bassist Leon Lavergne, keyboardist Jonathan Ramos and the superb drumming of John Staten, the group puts on a live performance reminiscent of Earth Wind & Fire meets Carlos Santana. A must see!
2001 saw the independent release of Machete, the groups first CD, with an initial printing of 1,000 copies quickly selling out. The band has performed at most of San Diego’s hot spots to include Humphrey’s by the Bay, The Belly Up Tavern, The 4th&B, The Catamaran, Neihman’s and Qualcomm stadium.
