Purge: “To cleanse or purify by separating and carrying off whatever is un-pure, foreign, or too superfluous… This is a pretty good description of the sound: stripped down, powerful, heavily rhythmic. Voted Best Original Band in New Hampshire at the Chantilley’s/Rock 101/Budweiser Battle of the Bands.

In early 2003, through the collaboration of Ass-9 Records and 101 Distribution it seems there is no stopping the Purge d.i. machine. With the release of their National Debut LP, “Grounded” supported by a national tour, national retail placement with major chain stores, national commercial radio, an MTV 2 video on deck and a full scale endorsement from Adidas, it seems Purge d.i. has “household name” locked in their crosshairs!

Reviews and Press:

“I’ve seen these guys play out a few times and was enough impressed with the pounding energy they sent coursing through the venue each time, that when I saw their CD up for review I grabbed it to see if they managed to transfer that energy onto disk. Almost. But not quite. That’s not a knock against the CD, but a compliment to their live show. “I Offend” is nine hard rocking songs with a heavy rumbling sound. Their bio sheet draws comparisons to Creed and Tool, and I would tend to agree. All four bandmates do their individual things quite well. For my taste the CD was just a little too polished for a band with such a crunching sound. Still, I recommend picking this one up. Just make sure you do it at a show to get the full effect of what this band is really all about!”

FINALLY! Something awesome from New Hampshire (and it ain’t the cows)!
Like a blip on a radar screen, Purge d.i. has emerged in the prime circle of the New England music scene. For the last five years, this foursome has methodically nursed their fan base to an impressive size with their first self-titled release in 1998. With initial inventory depleted, the band recently released their follow-up CD, I Offend, which delivers the same rousing sound, featuring smooth, searching vocals and introspective lyrics. This second release has garnered the band even more attention and support from press and radio with sales currently nearing 5000.
The members of Purge d.i. are native to New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. The story of their formation could only be fate. Guitarist Pete Lanzo and Bassist Randy Ladd have known each other for fifteen years. They decided to form a band and were in need of a drummer. Bob Austin answered their ad and played with the emerging group, but he did not care for their singer. While on a fill-in gig for another band, Bob was impressed by the singer of that band, Jay Bellaud. When the first singer quit on Pete and Randy, Bob mentioned Jay. It turns out that Pete had also previously met Jay through a mutual friend. Both Bob and Pete called Jay on the same day, unbeknownst to either of them! Eventually the four band mates came together and formed what was initially known as just Purge. With the fervor and notoriety that grew around P
