My name is Olafur Vigfusson and I am 31 years old teacher and musician from Iceland. I was born in a small village in south side of Iceland in presence of glaciers and volcanoes. Now I live in Reykjavik city.
I’ve been written songs since I was 13 years old and I’ve been working as a professional musician for the last six years. I play regularly at clubs and dance halls all over Iceland with my band Virus and we have traveled abroad to USA, Spain and Switzerland. I also write tunes and lyrics for other bands.
My musical influences are bands like: R.E.M, U2, Maroon 5, Gavin Degraw etc. So, the description of my music is melodic pop/rock alternative music with mix of passion and romantic.
In year 1999 I released my first solo album, Sugar world, with satisfying results. The CD was voted one of the 10 best records of the year in Iceland.
There is nothing I like better than see my own songs develop from a tiny tune into something other people like. I hope you will too.
