Danny and Sean grew up together and formed the band 'Heatherwood' with Phil in high school. All three worked at the clothing store owned by Danny, Mike and Jeff's (Danny's twin cousins) grandfather. This is where they met Raff, who also worked at the store. Heatherwood disbanded when the members left for college. The following summer Danny, Sean and Phil asked Mike to play in a new band they were forming. Jeff happened to sit in with them and the essence of Nefesh began to take shape. As the summer progressed Raff sat in on a few sessions and the six begin to craft the music that eventually became Nefesh's first album.

Nefesh is about the music. About the feelings conveyed between musician and auditor. About the language implicitly understood when a song speaks to the soul.

Nefesh has had the opportunity to play with such bands as The Dirty Dozen Brass band and The Nadas. They are also the winner of the 2002 Clivefest Battle of the bands in Des Moines, Iowa.
