Bio

Michael Joseph is a twenty-three year old singer/songwriter/ from Richmond, MA. He moved to Nashville, TN in February 2006, after graduating from University of Tennessee at Martin, with honors, in Criminal Justice. He has been writing music for 6 years and performing since he was a young boy. He has a very strong, deep-rooted, family background and a profound passion for performing his own original material. He categorizes his musical style as eclectic, and his musical influences are Garth Brooks, Billy Joel, and the Eagles. His music is unique in that it is country music based on piano.
His debut CD, Country Strong was produced, in Richmond, MA and was released in August, 2004. It has sold over a thousand copies, all without major label involvement, and his new, self-titled CD is well on its way to beating that mark.
Michael received a lot of attention in the summer of 2005 when his song, ?I Can?t Be Beat?, was selected, by the American Cancer Society, as its theme song for the Relay for Life events, throughout the northeast. Michael also performed the inspirational song in New York City?s Central Park, in front of 20,000 people for the YAI/NIPD Central Park Challenge, in June of 2005. ?I Can?t Be Beat? was featured on Fox Sports in May of 2005, accompanying a segment on Emily Miller, the young cancer survivor, who inspired the song.
Michael sang the ?National Anthem? in front of 15,000 people, in Central Valley NY, for the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, in October 2005.
Michael has a solid and loyal fan base that stretches across the country; he has opened for performers such as, Jessica Andrews and Brian McComas, at the Soybean Festival in Martin, TN. He has also collaborated with Doni Harris, who is now with Show Dog Records and part of the duo Rushlow-Harris. Michael?s growing fan base is drawn to his music and his passionate lyrics as well as his performances.
He is currently performing at writer?s nights throughout Nashville. Some of the venues include, the Bluebird Café, The Commodore, Bobbies Idle Hour, and Lyrix (formally Ga Dang).
