McCrei are currently in the studio recording their debut EP with the UK production and publishing company Zebra 1.

McCrei are two sisters who express their life experiences and observations on life through their own song writing. Although still teenagers, their songs are written from a perspective that most people can relate to, either now or from a previous point in their life. McCrei are not just about writing teenage heartache themed music, they choose to cover much wider topics although the occasional heartache themed song based upon what the girls are currently experiencing is not unknown!

McCrei was formed in the second half of 2012 when its member's Shannon McCree and Leanne McCree realised that potentially they could be a strong songwriting partnership and decided to team up together. Prior to forming McCrei, the two girls had played together in a four piece band until Leanne had left the band to go solo. The band dissolved and while Shannon was preparing to make solo appearances, she realised that the two sisters together could potentially become a popular and commercial duo.

Shannon and Leanne have written numerous songs and their songwriting has involved in depth and maturity as they have progressed. The duo are planning to write twenty new songs in 2013 and will be releasing both singles and EPs throughout this year. Recording is well under way on their debut EP with the production and publishing company Zebra 1 and will feature the tracks Three Little Words, The Woman This Girl Can Be, The First Time That A Heart Breaks and 3am Coffee. Their debut EP is not of their original acoustic genre, the tracks instead can best be described as soulful pop and a possible indication of where the future of McCrei is heading in terms of their writing.

McCrei completed 85 live appearances in 2012 under their former name of Leanne McCree and they plan to do even more gigs in 2013! Deciding to change the name from Leanne McCree to McCrei was a difficult decision to make but one the girls decided was necessary to reflect that they are now a duo rather than solo artists. Leanne, under her own name, will be laying vocals down for other artists this year from other musical genres including those of dance and rap.
