Bio

Alright let’s just cut to the chase. You know this is being written by me the artist, so rather than carrying on and on with “Mark is…” or “he’s so”, I might as well give it to you straight rather than speak in the third person. So, I will just get down to the facts.

My name is Mark Pires, I am a Singer/ Songwriter/Guitarist and I have written over sixty original songs about various experiences in my life and about people who have inspired or reflected emotions through my music. I write to give my audience a chance to relate and relive these experiences in they’re own way.

In the summer of 2001, I showcased my music at the IndieBob Music Festival in a “battle of the bands” against 24 other unsigned artists from Connecticut and Metro New York. In the end I came out on top and won the competition. The prize, a distribution deal and a college tour - I was thrilled my career was about to take off. Unfortunately, then came the terrorist attacks of September 11th and the company involved sustained serious financial impact, eventually going out of business and so too did my distribution deal and tour.

Since then, I’ve been performing throughout N.Y.C. and Connecticut. I’ve been showcased in numerous publications including the Stamford Advocate and the Hersam Acorn “Arts and Leisure” section and I’ve been featured in “Relix” magazine and New York City’s “The Village Voice”. I’ve shared the stage with a slew of amazing musician’s including, The Tom Tom Club, Deep
