Listening to Mark Drake’s music, you would not suspect that he is a yoga teacher turned singer/songwriter. You might expect him to be totally blissed out, dwelling within the universal ethers without a care in this mortal world. But once you hear the angst in his voice and his poetic, but disillusioned lyrics, you immediately realize that this soul still has some issues to deal with before moving on to the next plane.

Although Mark doesn’t sound quite like anybody else, you could put him in the category with such visceral and soulful solo acts as Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Ani DiFranco, P.J. Harvey, and Nick Cave. A gutsy clan of artists, not chasing the current trends, but rather seeking personal redemption through music.

He released his first album in 2003 ironically titled “I Don’t Write Love Songs”, on his own label, Nine to Three Records. He lives in Los Angeles and is playing shows throughout town as often as they'll let him.
