After a few years of trumpet in high school I began to tinker with software for making music. Since then software has become my main tool. For the most part, I think I do okay, but I'm always looking to improve. My goal is to find that place where general appeal meets interesting new sounds.
I get this feeling that people don't completely understand the idea behind drum and bass music. This harkens back to conversations of old where people didn't really understand that the focus in dnb music is exactly that: the drums and the bass. Looking at the review profile and considering the dnb artists I've listened to, I've kind of realized that the idea of "hook" in dnb doesn't completely make sense.
2006:
So, after years of stewing on the idea of the lack of a "hook" in dnb, I've starting putting more of a melodic element in my music... with hopes that it would start to live up to the ideal of what a song should perhaps actually be.
