Makers of Sense Long Bio

The Makers of Sense are Lional "Brother El" Freeman and Cristia´n Huepe. Together, they define a new high energy sound: Urban Post Electronic Dance Music; by combining electronica, hip hop, house, trance, vocals, dub & live instrumentation. Their unique music creates an alternative reality beyond the usual position & momentum restrictions of our measurable world. It guides the exploration and construction of new realms outside our everyday reality by opening up endless quantum- like possibilities.
Their careers started long before they met and, as their lives, followed very different paths. Cristia´n Huepe [labo_labs] is a Chilean musician and physicist with vast creative experience.
In his native Santiago (Chile), Cristian led the jazz-punk band Malavida, which was featured as one of the best emerging Chilean bands. Later, while living in Paris for six years working on his Ph.D. in physics, he started
performing live electronic music and collaborated in diverse artistic projects. Cristian's additional credits include scoring a video by dancer/trapezist Sandrine Rouxel presented at the Art and Body exhibit in Milan, Italy, and producing tracks for the art magazine 9/9-Practical Art Review, which was featured in the Pro-Zak exhibit at the Modern Art Museum of Paris. In 2000, Cristian recorded his first solo album eclectise, an eclectic mix of acoustic and electronic elements, at the Musicopre´ studios located in a farm on the French countryside. In 2006, his second solo album, Blue Line, was produced in Chicago and released nationally and internationally by Loud Dust Recordings.
A native of Chicago, recording engineer and producer Brother El creatively blends music with esoteric intensity. While doing his thing in the Windy City, he founded the "The Hip Hop Project" radio show at Loyola University Chicago's station WLUW 88.7 FM. As a producer and performer, Brother El has cultivated musical collaborations with various artists including Chicago rap
group Earatik Statik. His journey through chaos led to the release of his solo album Through the Cracks of Concrete, which threaded the inspirations and voices of African Diaspora, past and present, while showcasing his technique and capturing the sighs and pavement pounds of Chicago's elevated trains. The project received critical acclaim and was voted Best Record of the Year in 2001 by New City Magazine. His second solo album, All Dressed Up with No Place to Go, released in 2005 on his label, The Beat Bank, has been regarded as an underground hip hop classic.
The passion that Freeman and Huepe share for musical innovation and reinvention inspired them to collaborate in this new duo, Makers of Sense, creating a bond that transcends time, musical genres and cultural boundaries. Brother El is currently also the CEO of The Beat Bank, an independent record label and production studio focusing on artistic development and quality productions over quantity and trends. Huepe shares his time between music and scientific research.
