M1 Connect are a 2-piece rock/electronica act comprised of brothers Martin and Stewart Cuthew. Both together and separately, they have been involved in numerous bands and projects over the years and have drawn from this combined experience and a lifelong obsession with music to mould elements of the sounds they love into something unique.
Their sound is uplifting with dark undertones - warm pad synths and melodic guitars reach out and enchant you whilst your body is hit with a barrage of driving synth bass and pulsating electronic grooves. Riding above all this are vocals that speak of cautionary tales and the woes of modern life whilst maintaining a pop/rock melodic sensibilty and a sense of optimism. Think Smashing Pumpkins meets Doves, produced and remixed by Orbital!
Simple but epic; personal yet anthemic, this is music for the sad but hopeful; for those who feel down-trodden and doubtful but have a burning desire to fight for their place in the world, wherever that may be.

"For us it's born out of a lifelong obsession with music - of all types - ranging from dance to rock. We've both always talked about making something that pulls elements of all the bands we've loved into something that's totally ours. Now with the M1 Connect we're starting to achieve that."

M1 Connect are a two-piece rock/electronica act comprised of brothers Martin and Stewart Cuthew. Both together and separately, they have been involved in numerous bands and projects over the years and have drawn from this combined experience and a lifelong obsession with music to mould elements of the sounds they love into something totally theirs. Both started out as guitarists, but have since widened their range of skills to include keyboards, programming and production in order to pursue their craft.

The brothers sowed the seeds for a project together back in the early part of 2008, where they began to throw ideas around, define the sound they were aiming for and develop a way of working together that makes the most of their talents. After an initial few online demos, the two were hopeful they would find a drummer who would fit in with their vision and held off on recording tracks and promoting the project while they searched. When none were forthcoming they took a different approach and made a conscious decision to do away with live drums altogether, instead using electronic beats and samples that further define their sound and made it easy to fuse their love for dance music with their love for rock. After time spent working on new material that fitted their new remit and acquiring gear to perfect the 2 piece set-up in a live context, M1 Connect, as it is now, was born to the world at the end of 2008.

"We want to create something that moves you emotionally as well as physically and comment on the things that affect ourselves and others every day. For us it's about the human condition and making sense of the modern world and its problems and complications, but not losing sight of what beauty there is in the simple little things - and ultimately remaining hopeful."
