Good Night For Stars

And she turns away from the sunset,
Searching for darker skies.
She waits for the great awakening,
When the night shall open it's eyes.

And the cold waves crash on warm sand,
While tears warm a cold, cold face,
Wrapped up in his old MacKinnon cloak,
And the memory of his warm embrace.

And she searches, without any guide,
Through all of the heavens for thee,
Wondering which of those eyes up above
Belong to her love, lost at sea.

For the call of something strong and sure
Told him to find nature's laws
On a tall ship that catches the wild, wild winds,
And he'd navigate by the stars.

And she sees the way that he was,
Hold to the light in his eyes.
And the last words he spoke before he sailed away,
'It's a good night for stars'.
Ah.., ah...,
It's a good night for stars.

Runaway Lane

You have got these demons and they like to play these games.
I do not know their objective and I do not know their names.
I don't think they have in mind to speak with you at all,
They just make you push yourself to see if you will fall.

Mmmm mmm, faster down the hill,
take the corner wider, do not listen to your will.
Mmmm mmm, I don't like to watch,
give me shades to cut the glare and just an ounce of scotch.

I will be your runaway lane, I will break your fall.
I will be your runaway lane, I wouldn't mind at all.
I will be your runaway lane, I will break your fall.
I will be your runaway, runaway lane.

You dazzle me with genius, how I love to watch you play,
But underneath your passion I see them glinting where they lay.
I would do your battles, I would bring them to their knees,
But I'm afraid of causing symbiotic injuries.

Mmmm mmm, passing on the right,
leaning into this soft shoulder as you're screaming by,
Mmmm mmm, you don't have to play.
There must be a way to stop no matter what they say.

I will be your runaway lane, I will break your fall.
I will be your runaway lane, I wouldn't mind at all.
I will be your runaway lane, I will break your fall,
I will be your runaway, runaway lane.

Walking underneath the cliffs, wintertime has come to this:
Hundred feet of waterfall, frozen pillar, standing tall.
You must take a kick at it, just to see if this is it.
Must I stay and watch you die, is my witnessing your high....

I will be your runaway lane, I will break your fall.
I will be your runaway lane, I wouldn't mind at all.
I will be your runaway lane, I will break your fall,
I will be your runaway lane, I wouldn't mind at all... etc.

I will be your runaway, runaway lane.

Betcha Didn't Even Know

Callin' all of your guardian angels,
You will need them through the years that are bangin' on your door.
You have turned away the ones who would've stayed,
and you have hounded the ones you knew wouldn't give up anything more.

I betcha didn't even know... this song's about you.

Some have tried to reach you, thinking you would take their hand.
Men have trusted you to shoot straight with them and with their wives.
Some have flown to you, thinking there's a place to land.
Some have seen through to the fear in the rats behind those eyes.

I betcha didn't even know... this song's about you,
'Cause you're a little bit slow... when it comes to comin' through.

Calling all of your guardian angels,
They can guide you to the way you thought things were supposed to be.

I betcha didn't even know... this song's about you,
'Cause you're a little bit slow... when it comes to comin' through,
I betcha didn't even know... oh, this song's about you,
'Cause you're a little bit slow... oh, when it comes to comin' through,
Comin' through,
When it comes to comin' through.
etc....

Nothing Could Be Better

Take away the mountains high, take away all the trees.
Take away the time that flies, stoppin' at the seas, yeah,
Then nothing could be better, we've been heaven-blessed.
Times when we're together, who'd've ever guessed?

Take away the nights alone, thinkin' of your body.
Take away the times I roam, needing what you brought me,
Then nothing could be better, I feel it in my bones.
This is hard to come by, when will we get home?

Take away the circumstances keeping us apart,
Then you'll see the way it dances, takin' up my heart, yeah,
Then nothing could be better, I feel it in my bones.
This is hard to come by, when will we get home?
This is hard to come by, when will we get home?

La La La , I Can't Hear You

This is what I saw on a cold day in early March -
a boy about 12 waist-deep in the pond in the park.
And I don't know if he was talking to the people or the birds,
but with his hands over his ears he spoke these words, ...sayin'

La la la, I can't hear you,
La la la, la la la, I can't hear you

A father and a businessman made his way to Stanley Park.
Walked to the water with a briefcase and a heavy heart.
And maybe he'd already blown it off, but at least he took his socks off
when he tried to swim to the other side of it all.... sayin'

La la la, I can't hear you,
La la la, la la la, I can't hear you.
La la la, I can't hear you,
he was sayin' la la la, la la la, I can't hear you.

Yeah, wash it all away. Yeah, wash it all away.
With the temperature risin', the only exit lies in
cool, cool water.

This is what I did on a cold day in early March,
I took off my clothes and jumped in the ocean in Tofino Park.
And I don't know if I was talking to my future of my past,
but with my hands over my ears I spoke at last.... sayin'

La la la, I can't hear you,
La la la, la la la, I can't hear
La la la, I can't hear you,
Everybody sayin' la la la, la la la, I can't hear you... etc.
