Karl Williams

Karl Williams' songs have aired on NBC, FOX, and cable, as well as on German TV. Earlychildhood Magazine included some of Karl's songs for kids in the curriculum it developed for a program of The Jane Goodall Institute.
Radio stations around the world have picked up Karl's popular songs. His work has been written up in "Working Musicians" (HarperCollins, 2002) and SingOut! Magazine. The CD Karl wrote and produced and recorded with members of the national self-advocacy group found a place on the Grammy ballot in 1998. ASCAP has given Karl several awards for his work with this movement. Karl has also published two books with leaders in the movement. (Self-advocacy is the civil rights work of people with intellectual disabilities.)
Karl's songs have been used in videos and on websites; his stories, poems, and reviews have been published in magazines and books and online - and on stage: his play "Lost In A Desert World," based on his book of the same name, premiered in San Diego in 2010.

Hi J, Thanks for the note - and the rating. I was out of commission for about 8 years - constant fatigue & inability to focus. This summer I went for TMS - Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation - and now I'm getting back in the swing. Only thing is I'm 67 now & I lost all those years - so I'm way behind. Right now I'm working to finish up two books and after that I've got another book I was writing (about 3/4 of the way through...) when all this started that I have to get back to.
Anyway - Thanks again & I wish you luck with your work.

Karl

Hey Jeff - Great to hear from you! - especially about that song, if you know what I mean (lots of words and ideas, which is not so much in vogue at present...).
I'm finally coming out of a several-year-long illness (I hope) (not life-threatening) & having a pretty good day today - which is why I'm able to get back to you. (Tomorrow I may be under the weather again - who knows.)
I listened to a few of your songs.
Loved "DODECAHEDRON."
Also "...and in her hand was a frying pan
and you know that she doesn't cook...' from "SHOULD HAVE RUN AWAY AKA: THE FRYING PAN SONG" was neat.
And "...But with all those other cows
it's just a job and nothing more..." from "My Bovine Valentine"
made me smile too.

Take care,
Karl

I've been doing the same today with your tunes. Euthenasia is a beautifully crafted song but for me the subject is just too dark. I couldn't listen through thinking of my handicapped son and what those doctors would have done... The spelling song is too cute and THat Evening Touch is divine. I see some similarities between what we do especially on a song like "In Other Words" I just think you do it better. If you want a laugh check https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nON kGK1jCvo done in that conversational style.
Hope your health issues keep looking up and glad to meet you!

Hi Jeff - this is embarrassing and/or frustrating...: I'm in bad shape again today which means I'm in what my Lyme disease specialist calls a "brain fog." It's embarrassing/frustrating because this has been going on for several years now - and I just want to get back to work & I can't because my brain won't come back "online" so to speak... I'm not at all convinced that I have Lyme disease - I might be having an allergic reaction to the medication I was taking for high blood pressure. Anyway...maybe I shouldn't have responded to your comment yesterday, because here it is a new day & I can't keep up my end of things... Thanks for comments, etc. about my work. I should ask about your son, but I just can't - I'm sorry... Good to meet to you too.

My Precious One knocked me out! Beautiful timbre in the soulful vocals. This song is an example of the best of the genre, the best of the old and new. Gorgeous sincerity and simplicity!

Hi Karl. Well, I hope you get back to 100% soon. Don't worry about listening to my music, just tell me where I can buy My Precious One. I want to be able to listen to it outside of Broadjam. Best, Hattie

Hi Hattie - I'd be happy to send you a CD of the song, if you'll give me an address. I've also used file transfer sites once or twice - to get things to music libraries. Would that work for you? Karl

I can receive the file via Drop Box or You Send It. If it's easier, you can mail to me at P.O. Box 8065, Manchester CT 06040. I'm excited! I know my son will want it on his iPod. Thanks. Hattie

Hattie - I've uploaded My Precious One.wav to Dropbox. Will you be able to get it - or do I have to link to you some way? Also - the song was recorded by Jack Harris in Nashville; that's Jack on guitar; and Margaret Bailey singing.

Hi Karl
I think you need to make a shared folder with our names, put the audio file in the folder, and then send me an email invite. Use hattiewilcox@gmail.com. Thanks for letting me know the musicians. Open dropbox home and you will see the instructions. Looking forward to it! Hattie
