Jon Zucker weaves passionate, positive and introspective lyrics around singable melodies and dynamic instrumentation. It's music that is reminiscent of Billy Joel, John Mayer, and the Fray

Jon Zucker Bio

Ever since performing onstage with Billy Joel while in college, I've had a dream of becoming a successful songwriter and performer. The dream took a slight detour after college, however, as I did the practical thing and pursued a career on Wall St. I never forgot about my musical aspirations, however, and a couple of years ago I decided to quit my job, move out to LA, and pursue music full-time. I thought LA would be the perfect place to pursue my dream, as it is a town full of people doing just that, and the entertainment capital of the world.

"Wasting Time" is a song that means a lot to me, because it has to do with the journey I've taken and the lessons I've learned; lessons I believe are relevant for anyone who has ever had a dream or stood at a crossroads in their life. The song deals with the concept that, while life is short, if we live it right and follow our passions, we'll have enough time to accomplish everything we want! I actually wrote the song after reading a commencement address that Steve Jobs made at Stanford University, where he said, "if you're not doing what you love, you're wasting your time."

Having grown up in New York City and New Jersey, the main artists that inspired me creatively were Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen, among others, and their influence still comes across in my work. Lately, people have said that my music reminds them of Ben Folds, and of The Fray, whose piano-based pop/rock is really popular right now. I have a new album out called "Constant State of Fantasy" that I'm really proud of. It was produced by a multi-platinum record recipient and mastered by a Grammy winner. The album deals with my life as a New Yorker transplanted to the West Coast. I've been told that the melodies are infectious and people can't get them out of their heads! I hope you'll download some tracks on iTunes or, better yet, buy the whole album on CDBaby...
