Later that decade, Jimmy was performing at the Telluride bluegrass festival where he sat in with David Bromberg. This led to more appearances with David including several nights at the Bottom Line in New York City. Jimmy also appears on David's Rounder Records release, "Sideman Serenade".

In the early nineties Jimmy moved to Nashville and performed and recorded with Al Kooper. Highlights include a tribute concert to Gram Parsons.
