Songwriter

Janet is a songwriter whose songs are charged with life and energy, a joie de vivre that audiences and musicians respond to. Her songs tell wonderful stories and buzz with a love of life. Ballads that pull at the heart strings, pop songs leading to exciting choruses, songs that satisfy and exhilarate. She recently won first prize in the pop/uptempo category of the prestigious Unisong Songwriting 2005 competition, for her song "Moan". ( HYPERLINK "http://www.unisong.com" www.unisong.com) "You've got yourself a lights-out hit-sounding thing! It's amazingly attractive, and infectious! We're helpless. Great writing!" (comments from the Unisong judges) Janet writes in a wide range of styles, and works quickly and intuitively. She has written songs for children ("All Those Years" published in the ABC Song Out! Songbook, 2003), and has been commissioned to write for a number of festivals and events. In 2001 Janet co wrote "The Cauldron Song" for the first anniversary of the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron at Sydney Olympic Park. She wrote two songs for the 2004 Bicentenary of the Battle of Vinegar Hill in western Sydney, a significant historical event. She wrote a suite for Holden cars, and choir for the 2000 South Sydney festival. She has written many songs for choirs which have been performed extensively around Australia ("Calling Song"). In 2001 she produced her solo CD, Spine.
