A bit about Hayley Stark

New for 2011! Check out Hayley Stark's latest video for the song "Skirt is on Fire" at http://www.youtube.com/ilovehayleystark

Together, Monica Julie and Jennifer Bryan who comprise pop-rock duo Hayley Stark, are just a little over 10 feet tall. You'd never know it from watching them perform their hook-infused acoustic rock tunes on stage.

After nearly two years of performing in intimate bars and cafes, and at everything from theatre receptions to fashion shows in Toronto, Hayley Stark has a solid collection of catchy and head-nodding songs that`ll make you think, dare you to cry, and give you a sharp slap on the ass.

2011 has had a powerful kick-off, with the release of the official video for the song ``Skirt is on Fire``, a new crowd favourite that features not only powerful vocals and signature Hayley Stark harmonized acoustic guitar lines, but also drums, bass and additional instrumentation.

Hayley Stark will continue to release a new song and/or video each month over the winter, however the girls are still receiving glowing praise for their debut acoustic EP ``Get Over It``, released in late 2009. The girls spent 2010 performing ``Get Over It`` for crowds throughout Ontario and playing as part of both Canadian Music Week and the North by Northeast Music Festival in Toronto.

Hayley Stark's musical influences include artists like Tegan and Sara, City and Colour and even Elliot Smith and Jack Johnson. But there is no denying that the girls have listened to more than their fair share of Coheed & Cambria, Panic! at the Disco, Veruca Salt and My Chemical Romance.

About ``Get Over It``:
The powerful "Let Me Go (Tonight)" features musical hints of hard rock and metal and takes from their experience as both artists and 9 to 5ers. The catchy "I'd Still Pick You Up" is an ode to those special someones, a Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" for the 2000s, and has a video filmed in the streets of Toronto.

Along the way you'll hear both chugging and lyrical cello on "One Good Reason" and the horror movie-like theme of "Hard Candy", the closing song on the EP. And you'll hear harmonies, both vocal and guitar. Lots of 'em. "Get Over It" is an acoustic record for those who like a little metal and rock in their pop.

Artist Bios

Jennifer Bryan
When she's not working with Hayley Stark, singer and jazz-trained guitarist Jennifer Bryan is a roaring girl in every sense of the phrase. Borrowing from her experience as lead guitar phenom in a host of hard rock bands, you can catch her lending her skills to Toronto-based band The Roaring Girl Cabaret, most recently featured in the 2010 Canwest Cabaret Festival.

Monica Julie
Far from a one-string wonder, Monica Julie is well known for her multi-faceted musical expertise. While she excels as a guitarist, bassist and vocalist, she has also captivated crowds as a technical and hard-hitting metal drummer in various GTA bands.

Hayley Stark is grateful for the support of the ONTARIO ARTS COUNCIL.

Hayley Stark wears Magdelina Designs by Kat O'Shaughnessy who has been a featured designer in FAT 2008, 2009, 2010.
