Greg Osgood first encountered the piano at age six. "I used to hang around an old man in my community whom everybody used to call Mister Mot. I don't know why, but that's what we called him. He used to sit on the front porch steps of his home every evening and play his acoustic guitar. I remember quite well he used to do a lot of Johnny Lee Hooker and Jimmy Reed stuff. I couldn't help hanging around him all the time. I loved to hear him play. Coming from a poor family, I only had an old, worn-out charlie- brown-piano that I had got for Christmas, and I would rush home afterward and try to play the tunes I heard Mister Mot play. I knew, then, that I was going to be a piano player someday."
