Suffering through the many metamorphoses all musicians go through, Gary Ando has remained a no nonsense guitarist. But as a singer/songwriter, Gary has firmly established himself as an artist who looks deep into himself and others. Most important was the feeling of the song and the influence of his environment at the time. Straight ahead songs filled with soul searching, introverted lyrics seem to be the norm.
Gary Ando has been knocking around the Detroit music scene since the late eighties. Influenced greatly by the glam and punk rock scene at the time, bands formed and faded away. Punk and blues were and are the main ingedients. And Detroit was the place that forged Gary's thoughts and actions. But after years of hard luck, band confrontations and hangovers, Gary made a decision to just disappear from the scene.
It was definately a metamorphoses. Appearing years later with fresh enthusiasm, but a jaded, cynical outlook at life. The songs are well texture epics and straight ahead rockers with lyrics that make you insert yourself into the story.
