Former lead singer for San Francisco-based band Boyfriend, Emily Hickey is now writing and performing as a solo artist in the Bay Area. Emily's first solo release will be the upcoming album, 'Famous Places,' due out in March 2006. Driven to evolve her craft of songwriting and to resolve some personal sh*t, Emily wrote the songs during a concentrated 2 month stint living on the beach in LA, working heavily under the influence of Leon Russell, David Crosby and Aimee Mann. Back in the studio in San Francisco, the songs ramped up and Emily's unique sound emerged in the vein of Natalie Merchant meets the Foo Fighters.

"After writing and performing with a band, I wanted to return to a more feminine feel. Technically, I wanted to tighten up arrangements and deliver songs that were to the point and emotional."

'Famous Places' is a thoughtful and hook-filled debut album that should serve Emily well in her goals to establish herself as a prominent solo artist in the Bay Area and beyond.
